The Glossary of key words used in the formulation of questions has been updated for use commencing in 2026. The glossary can be located under the ‘Support Materials’ accordion on every ATAR, General and Foundation course page at https://senior-secondary.scsa.wa.edu.au/.

The definitions in the glossary are generic and applicable across all courses. The glossary assists teachers and students to have a common understanding of the command words used in questions that indicate to students what is required to complete the question. This Glossary of key words used in the formulation of questions is used to prepare questions in ATAR course examinations and externally set tasks developed by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority.
