New curriculum support materials for Years 3 to 10 are now available, to assist teachers to implement the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline.
These materials can be accessed from the new Year level pages or Learning area pages.

Today, Education Ministers from across the country agreed to some improvements to NAPLAN from 2023 based on consideration of advice presented by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA).

Today the Minister for Education and Training announced Ms Pauline White will succeed Professor Patrick Garnett as Chair of the Board of the Authority. Ms White will assume her new role from 18 December 2021.
The Executive team and all staff at the Authority thank Professor Garnett for his leadership and contribution to the work of the Authority since its inception in 2012. We wish him the very best for the future. We welcome Ms White to her new role and look forward to progressing the Board’s strategic plans.

The new Year 7 Sample Teaching and Learning Outlines for both the P-10 sequence and the 7-10 sequence, to support the implementation of Year 7 Languages in 2022, have been uploaded to the website under Teaching Support Materials.
Registrations for the 2022 Key Messages - Primary and Secondary Briefings are now open.
Teachers and stakeholders are invited to register to attend a WebEx meeting to identify syllabus changes in the following courses: Years 11 and 12 General Aboriginal and Intercultural Studies; Years 11 and 12 ATAR Agricultural Science; Years 11 and 12 ATAR Psychology; and Years 11 and 12 Science in Practice.
Schools are advised that the School Curriculum and Standards Authority Board has approved moderation activities for Pre-primary to Year 10 for 2022. This will take two forms: Moderation Workshops to develop a comprehensive and shared understanding of the Achievement Standards, and Curriculum and Assessment Seminars to develop a comprehensive and shared understanding of the mandated Principles of Teaching, Learning and Assessment in the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline.
Teachers of ATAR Visual Arts and relevant Heads of Learning are advised that WebEx professional development workshops will be provided in Term 2 2022, to inform teacher practical (production) marking judgements and support improving student performance in the practical (production) assessment task type and the practical (production) examination.
EAL/D teachers and relevant Heads of department are advised that a face-to-face and a WebEx professional development related to the 2023 implementation of the new course is being provided in early June. The focus of the workshops will be to support development of Course outlines, Assessment outlines, and Assessment tasks with marking keys, and to understand the changes to the examination and assessment types.
Drama and Media Production and Analysis teachers and relevant Heads of department are advised that face-to-face and WebEx professional development workshops related to the 2023 implementation of these new courses is being provided in June. The focus of the workshops will be to support development of course outlines, assessment outlines and assessment tasks with marking keys as well as understanding the 2023 Year 12 ATAR written and practical examination design briefs.
Teachers of ATAR Computer Science and relevant Heads of Learning are advised that a WebEx consultation workshop will be provided in Term 2 2022, to initially explain and then gather feedback from stakeholders in regards to the proposed consultation draft ATAR Computer Science syllabuses. This workshop will focus on the proposed changes, revised structure and updated content of the drafts.
