The School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority) is conducting an online briefing to outline the teaching requirements of the new Arabic ATAR Year 11 and Year 12 syllabus for implementation in Year 11 from 2026. The session will be held on Thursday, 11 December 2025 from 4.00–5.00 pm.

The briefing is intended for schools offering the new Arabic ATAR course for Year 11 in 2026 and will focus on:

  • introducing the Arabic ATAR syllabus borrowed from the New South Wales Education Authority (NESA)
  • implementing a combined Year 11 and Year 12 syllabus
  • meeting the course requirements
  • developing a shared understanding of assessment requirements.

It is important to note that the new Arabic ATAR syllabus, borrowed from NESA, is a combined Year 11 and 12 syllabus, which will be implemented in Year 11 in 2026 and in Year 12 in 2027. Students enrolled in the Arabic ATAR course in Year 12 in 2026 will continue to use the current Arabic ATAR Year 11 and Year 12 syllabus based on the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority course.

To register for the briefing, email Languages@scsa.wa.edu.au with your name, school/organisation and email address by Tuesday, 9 December 2025.

Note: the Authority will use Webex as the delivery platform for the briefing. Registrants will need to download the application prior to the meeting to participate.
