The School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority) is implementing mandatory requirements under the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024 (WA) (PRIS Act) to strengthen the protection of stakeholders’ personal information and is applying information classification labelling consistent with the Western Australian Information Classification Policy available at https://www.wa.gov.au/government/publications/western-australian-information-classification-policy.

Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024 (WA)

From Wednesday, 1 July 2026, the Authority, along with other Western Australian State Government departments and agencies, must comply with key privacy and data requirements under the PRIS Act.

The PRIS Act strengthens the protection of personal information and supports responsible government data sharing for public benefit.

The Authority will commence issuing privacy collection notices when directly collecting personal information from stakeholders, explaining what information is collected and why.

Information classification labelling

Classification labels, such as OFFICIAL or OFFICIAL Sensitive, will begin to appear in the headers of Authority documents and emails.

These labels help ensure information is classified, protected and managed according to its sensitivity, consistent with the Western Australian Information Classification Policy available at https://www.wa.gov.au/government/publications/western-australian-information-classification-policy.

Further details about the Authority’s commitment to privacy are available in the Privacy Policy and Privacy Policy Principles documents on the Authority website.
