Completing the Student Declaration and Permission in the Student Portal

Roadmap of Student Declaration and Permission steps

Completing the Student Declaration and Permission is the first thing you will need to do when you log in to the student portal (https://studentportal.scsa.wa.edu.au). This is for all Year 12 students and anyone enrolled in a Year 12 Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) course.

Student Declaration

When you agree with the student declaration you are declaring that you are aware of and understand the requirements to achieve the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) and for sitting the ATAR course examinations.

The WACE requirements are listed in the Year 12 Information Handbook Part I, which is available on the Authority website at https://scsa.wa.edu.au/publications/year-12-information. It is very important to read this information.

Student Permission

The Authority asks permission:

  • to publish your name if you win an award
  • to use your schoolwork produced during 2025*
  • to use your ATAR written and practical examination responses.*

*Your name and the name of your school will not be published.

We recommend discussing the questions above with your parents or guardians before completing your responses. Further detail about these permissions can be found at https://senior-secondary.scsa.wa.edu.au/the-wace/student-declaration

What happens if you do not complete the online Student Declaration and Permission?

If you do not complete the online student declaration and permission, the answers all default to ‘no’ in our system. The consequence of a ‘no’ response is that your name will not be published if you are a recipient of an Authority award at the end of Year 12. To find out about the Authority’s Awards, see Section 8: Exhibitions and Awards in the WACE Manual 2025 at https://scsa.wa.edu.au/publications/wace-manual.

Once the details of exhibitions and awards recipients are published on the Authority website, changes cannot be made to the lists. If permission was not given to have a student’s name published, a ‘not for publication’ will appear instead of a name. The school name is listed for all recipients.

Note: the Authority is unable to change details from ‘not for publication’ to a student’s name (or vice versa) once the list of recipients is published.

When does this have to be completed?

Student declarations and permissions are due to completed by Thursday, 28 August 2025. However, you should aim to complete this task as soon as possible to allow yourself time to check information such as your enrolment and personal details.
