Students can continue to report the achievement of work placement modules which are required as part of a pre-apprenticeship program or school-based apprenticeship via ADWPL. Schools are reminded to follow the established processes and guidelines for meeting ADWPL requirements.

Non-assessable modules
For students who are completing a pre-apprenticeship in schools or school-based apprenticeship, the non-assessable modules, currently referred to as work placement coordination modules (W codes) and previously known as supervised skills practice (Y codes) can continue to report these work placement hours through ADWPL and have them contribute towards the WACE as an endorsed program. Schools are reminded to follow the established processes and guidelines for meeting ADWPL requirements.

Assessable modules
For students who are completing a pre-apprenticeship in schools or school-based apprenticeship, the assessable modules:

  • 21410  On-site Work Placement 1
  • 21411  On-site Work Placement 2
  • 21412  On-site Work placement 3
  • 21413  On-site Work placement 4

can either be recorded as the units of competency within the relevant qualification (through VET credit transfer or VET industry specific credit arrangements) or schools may report the modules through ADWPL and have them contribute towards the WACE as an endorsed program.  Students cannot use the time in the workplace accrued in these modules recorded both against their qualification and to meet the requirements of ADWPL.

Where the On-site Work Placement modules are reported as units of competency linked to a qualification and ADWPL has also been reported for a student, it is expected that the ADWPL hours are in addition to the hours completed as part of the qualification. Schools are reminded to follow the established processes and guidelines for meeting ADWPL requirements.
