General Information, SIRS and Enrolments

Allocation of WA Student Number for Primary Students 2018

Contact

All schools should by now have received communication regarding the allocation of the WA Student Number (WASN) for their students from Kindergarten to Year 6. It is a requirement that all students in WA receive a WASN and their data is uploaded to the Student Information Records System (SIRS) at School Curriculum and Standards.

This information is required by no later than the end of Term 3 2018.

The WASN remains with a student until the end of their senior secondary schooling and it is important that we avoid duplication of records where possible.

To request your WASNs, please send a spreadsheet to numbers@scsa.wa.edu.au and include each student’s legal surname, legal first name, date of birth and academic year.  We will check to see if the student already has a number, and advise appropriately, or request new numbers.

The process for uploading primary student information is exactly the same as for secondary students, through a Student Registration and Demographic (SRGDG) file to SIRS.

The link to the SIRS Information Page on our website is https://www.scsa.wa.edu.au/sirs-info/primary-schools, where you can find a Student Registration Procedures Manual 2018, a Guide to Uploading SRGDG file as well as online training videos.

If your school has not yet received instructions on how to request numbers, create and upload their file, please contact dataservices@scsa.wa.edu.au and a member of the data team will be able to assist.

For assistance with logging on and passwords, please contact sirshelp@scsa.wa.edu.au.

If you require any assistance with creating or uploading your data, please contact a member of the data team on 9273 6344 or email dataservices@scsa.wa.edu.au.

ALL schools are reminded to update their student information on a regular basis by uploading their SRGDG to SIRS.  This also ensures accuracy of data and avoids duplication of records.

Moderation

Year 6 and Year 7 Moderation 2018

School leaders and teachers are advised the Moderation Tasks for English, Mathematics, Science and Humanities and Social Sciences were sent to the registered school contact on Tuesday, 19 June 2018, to distribute the information to participating teachers in the school.

For schools participating in the moderation process this year, the registered school contact received:

  • an outline of responsibilities and a timeline for the moderation process
  • a list of the assessment tasks for each year level and learning area the school registered to receive
  • a summary of the adjustments the School Curriculum and Standards Authority made to the tasks based on teacher feedback
  • a student and teacher permission pack for the collection of student work samples.

If you have not received the moderation materials, please contact Jason.Collier@scsa.wa.edu.au who will be able to assist. For any additional information please contact Mandy Hudson.
