Professional learning information workshops will be held for the revised Health and Physical Education Curriculum P–10 available for familiarisation in 2024 and for implementation in 2025. The School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority) will provide professional learning opportunities to familiarise educators with the curriculum content for Health and Physical Education. Information workshops will provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of changes to the learning area structure and content as well as support materials to assist with planning, teaching, and assessing in Pre-primary to Year 10.

The regional workshops will address syllabus content in Health and Physical Education from Pre-primary to Year 10 and be tailored to suit audience needs. Health content will be addressed in the morning session, and Physical Education in the afternoon. The metropolitan workshops are advertised as Pre-primary to Year 6, and Years 7–10 and will address Health content in the morning, and Physical Education content in the afternoon. Attendees are encouraged to select one or both sessions based on the professional learning needs of the school.

Pre-primary to Year 10 Science and Technologies learning areas are currently being reviewed to adopt and adapt the Australian Curriculum version 9 within the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline. Proposed revisions to the curriculum for Science and Technologies will be available from Monday, 13 May 2024.

Teachers and other stakeholders are invited to register for an online consultation information session to learn about the proposed revisions and the rationale for the construct and content included in the consultation drafts.

Register for this workshop at https://www.scsa.wa.edu.au/events/Consultation-for-proposed-changes-to-Pre-primary-to-Year-10-Science-and-Technologies-Curriculum.

Teachers and other stakeholders are invited to review the revised curriculum on the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority) website from Monday, 13 May to Friday, 31 May 2024 and are encouraged to complete the Authority’s consultation surveys to provide feedback on the revised curriculum for Science and Technologies. The surveys will be available with the consultation materials. Feedback may also be submitted directly to the Authority at WACAO@scsa.wa.edu.au.

The Authority is aiming to have the revised curriculum for Science and Technologies approved for familiarisation in 2025 and implementation in 2026.

For 2024, the only content that has been updated is the content for phonics and word knowledge in Pre-primary to Year 6 English, and consent in Pre-primary to Year 10 Health and Physical Education. For all other learning areas, teachers are reminded that the current Western Australian Curriculum is the mandated curriculum for Western Australia in 2024.
